“With 490 hotels in more than 70 countries across the Globe, Crowne Plaza Hotels caters predominantly for business travelers. Conversely,  Crowne Plaza is not hitting the mark in enticing and appeasing the ever-growing young business traveler aged between 24 and 30.

BRIEF/PROBLEM

OBJECTIVES & DELIVERABLES

The brief was to make Crowne Plaza Hotels more desirable to Millennial business travellers. So I asked – what do Millennials want? What do they want to achieve?
Millennials want freedom of choice and to feel a part of something bigger than themselves. They also want to make the world a better place, yet do not want to inconvenience their lives too much or become extreme activists.
So why not combine freedom of choice and community, ease of access and convenience, and reward them for their actions?
Introducing Choose A Better Way – a concept that not only addresses Millennial engagement, but also the serious impact that conventional hotels have on the environment.

Crowne Plaza has created an app that allows guests to monitor their effect on the environment and empowers and rewards them for making environmentally friendly choices.

Crowne Plaza has created an app that allows guests to monitor their effect on the environment and empowers and rewards them for making environmentally friendly choices.

1.DASHBOARD

With a simple, easy to navigate dashboard homepage design, all relevant and important information is accessible to our users.
Profile Image, Points, Ranking, Duration of Stay and Rewards Available are all displayed at the top of the home page.
Quick and easily digestible stats are displayed on the dashboard, as well as navigation buttons leading to the rest of the app.

2.NOTICES

When app is opened for the first time a notification will appear in which the details of use will be explained to the user. This app utilises NFC functionality in order to make statistics possible.
Users will be rewarded for saving water and energy, as well as recycling and generating energy by utilising our specialised gym equipment.
For more information, users can click the learn more button which will direct them to an external information page on the Crowne Plaza website.
After each day, if our user has been able to stick under their quota a congratulations message will greet them the next time they open the app.

3.MAIN FEATURE


The main feature of Crowne Plaza’s WiseApp is it’s ability to live track our guests impact.
This app is automatically linked to our guest’s room during check in, allowing our guests to monitor their room’s water and energy usage. Crowne Plaza gives each guest a daily target of water and energy usage. For every litre or kw under the target amount users will get the equivalent in points.
Recycling and energy contribution is also monitored, and for ever item recycled and every kw contributed points will be earned.
Guests will also be able to see their points in relation to our other guests, in the form of a leader board. Everyday there will be a leader in each category - water , energy, recycling and energy generation, as well as an over all leader. Points will be doubled for everyday our guest is at the top of the leader board.
Our statistic page also monitors our collective difference, allowing our guests to see the bigger impact of their decisions.

4.EXTRA FEATURE

This app also allows users to create a profile with a profile picture. Users can also define settings within the app.
Crowne Plaza has paired up with WWF, in order to allow users to donate through the app if they desire to do so.
Other basic features include booking stays at any Crowne Plaza Hotel all over the world, a personal concierge 24/7, the ability to order room service through the app, and a 24 hour help feature to answer any questions or assist our guests with anything they might need.

5.REWARDS

Crowne Plaza believes in incentives - because incentives are cool.
As a thank you for your participation, Crowne Plaza has a variety or rewards that our guests are free to choose from such as a free bar tab, or a free nights stay at any of our hotels across the world.
Guests also have the ability to earn extra points by rating our app on the App Store / Google Play or by sharing our app with their followers on Instagram.

6.LEADERBOARD


We have noticed our clients desire to make a positive impact and we have decided to make that process a little easier. We really believe in freedom of choice and the ability to make a difference.

Crowne Plaza has created an app that allows guests to monitor their effect on the environment and empowers and rewards them for making environmentally friendly choices.

Crowne Plaza has also created a number of initiatives throughout the hotel in order to facilitate energy and water conservation, such as solar panels and solar windows, low flow shower heads and water saving toilets.
We also support a number of initiatives such as Clean World, which allows for all our unused toiletries to be sanitised and donated to those who most need it.
We also make use of compostable food containers, as well as recycling initiatives.
