I drew my inspiration for my festival branding from the landscpape of coachella valley, drawing hige inspiration from the DUSTS AND COLOUR PAINT.
A big influence was also the hipster, arty vibe of coachella and the freedom of expression showcased there.
Coachella is one of the world's biggest ever music festivals, hosted anually in Coachella Valley desert, California. California is an American sate that stretches along the border of Mexico. The word Coachella comes from the misspelling of the valley's old name, Conchilla, from a Spanish word meaning little shell. The valley was called Conchilla due to the fossil shells found in the desert.
The origin of the name, being Spanish / Mexican, as well as the reference to the Coachella Valley landscape is what inspired and informed my branding design for this festival.
All my design elements are drawn from the texture and dustiness of the desert that Coachella is hosted in. I also drew a lot of inspiration from the artistic aspect of Coachella, as huge art sculptures are errected annully at the festival. I wanted to embrace and celebrate the vibrant, free, colourful hipster vibe that the festival encompasses.
